We use our backs constantly — to bend, turn, even to hold ourselves upright and lie down. This continual use causes a lot of wear and tear, making our backs prone to fatigue, stress and injury.
Many back injuries happen during the first few hours of work, when muscles have been idle and are therefore tight, lacking in the flexibility that will be present once they’re warmed up. Injuries can be avoided by stretching for five to 10 minutes prior to the start of a shift.
